A native of Tunisia, Dr. Nahed Nadia Noureddine has earned a B.A. in Spanish from Université de La Manouba in Tunisia and a Master’s Degree in Latin American civilization from Universidad Complutense in Spain. She has a Ph.D. in Linguistics with a concentration in Translation Studies.
In her Ph.D. dissertation entitled “Traduction et réception en Espagne de la littérature maghrébine de langue française” (Translation and Reception in Spain of French-language North African Literature), she highlights the various factors that influence the distribution and reception of French-language North African literature in Spain. In her post-doctoral research, Dr. Noureddine has expanded her field of study to the translation of feminist Arabic literature in the Western world. Her interest derives from the particularities of these texts that, while having a peripheral position in Arabic literature, often transcend their geographical borders to present a deep reflection on women’s situation worldwide.
She has published several articles, including “Étude lexicale de la traduction du roman Les yeux baissés de Tahar Ben Jelloun en espagnol,” which was published in 2011 in the book Traduire,interpreter (Marillaud & Gauthier, dir., University Toulouse-Le-Mirail). She has also participated in the translation of the book Nouvelles du Chili, an anthology of Chilean short stories, from Spanish to French.
Dr. Noureddine has taught Spanish and French for native and non-native speakers as well as Translation Studies in Canadian universities: Université Laval, Université Concordia, and Université du Québec en Outaouais. She currently teaches French language and Francophone culture and literature in the School of Arts and Sciences at the College of New Rochelle
